Frequently asked questions...

For some the prospect of hypnotherapy may appear intimidating. Below is a selection of frequently asked questions regarding the therapy.  Should you require further information or have any other questions, please do not hesitate to reach out.

Do I need to have severe anxiety to work with you?

No.

A lot of the women I work with are functioning well from the outside.

The issue is how much energy it takes internally to keep doing that.

You don't have to wait until anxiety completely disrupts your life before deciding you want support.

What if other people have it worse than me?

Somebody else's struggle doesn't invalidate yours.

The question isn't whether somebody somewhere is suffering more.

It's whether the way you're feeling is affecting your ability to enjoy, trust or be yourself in your life.

What if I've tried therapy before?

That's absolutely okay.

Some clients come to hypnotherapy after counselling, CBT, coaching, self-help or other approaches.

We can talk about what helped, what didn't and what still feels unresolved.

Will you make me do embarrassing things?

No.

There are no clucking chickens here.

Clinical hypnotherapy and stage hypnosis have very different purposes.

Will I tell you secrets?

Hypnosis does not turn you into a truth machine.

You remain able to choose what you say and what you don't.

Will I remember the session?

Generally, yes.

People can become deeply relaxed or absorbed, so certain parts may feel less prominent afterwards - similar to daydreaming - but hypnotherapy isn't designed to knock you unconscious.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no ethical way to guarantee exactly how quickly an individual will change.

My main Anxiety Release approach is structured over six weeks because it gives us time to work on patterns and observe what is changing between sessions.

We’ll review your progress as we go.

Can we work online?

Yes.

Online hypnotherapy means you can have sessions from somewhere private and comfortable without travelling.

What Happens Next?

What happens after I complete the questionnaire?

I'll review what you've shared.

If it sounds like my approach could be appropriate for you, the next step is an introductory call.

That gives us a chance to talk through what's been happening, answer your questions and see whether working together feels right.

What happens during the intro call?

It's simply a relaxed conversation.

You'll tell me a little more about what has been happening and what you'd like help with.

I'll explain how I work and what hypnotherapy may involve.

You can ask questions.

And we'll decide whether working together feels appropriate.

There’s no pressure to commit during the call.

What if you're not the right person for me?

I’ll tell you.

I don't believe integrity means trying to turn every enquiry into a client.

Sometimes another professional, approach or level of support is more appropriate.

If I believe that is the case, I'll be open with you.

Still wondering whether this is right for you?

You don’t have to decide before getting in touch.

Start with the questionnaire and tell me a little about what’s going on.
